Still great color and still needs time to open up. Syrah dominates. A bit lean on the fruit, which gives it a northern Rhône typicity.
(2/10/2018) So typical of the "new" Ridge style — that is, of the last 20 years — as opposed to the "old" Ridge style. The "new" style emphasizes fruit and American oak, but the two elements don't seem to come together, at least on this wine. Very respectable but certainly not in the wow category.

Drinking fantastic right now. In the best possible way, this drinks like a top class Australian shiraz, with wonderfully bright and pure currant, cherry, and black berry fruits; pretty floral notes; and a sweet lingering finish. Excellent, and promising to drink well for at least five more years, though I’d say enjoy it at this peak of pleasure and balance.

Courtesy of tlv, popped & poured. Youthful dark color. Black raspberry, white pepper, blue fruit and herb notes. Medium-bodied, with softened tannins and flavors of blue fruit and roasted game. Peppery spice in the finish and plenty of lush, exuberant fruit. Very much a complete wine and in a very good place.
