Decanted for 3 hours then enjoyed with grilled ribeye, baked potatoes and sesame stir fry green beans. Enjoyed over an additional 2+ hours after dinner as well. Mid red garnet in the glass. Nose of red fruit, maybe some fig and a slight sweet cigar box component. Palate of mid weight, soft red fruit (no prunes noted), a little leather and earth to go with the cigar box. This is a really off year for Bdx and this wine is decidedly lighter and 'feminine' in style. At hours 2-4 it was quite enjoyable and while less complex than the better vintages is not at all a middling '80s wine that LPB recently graded it at, on her 10 Year Bdx Retrospective. This does however trail off a bit after 4 hours and the fruit turns decidedly cherry and tart and thinner in weight. 91-92 early on.....88 at the end. Not bad at all for probably the worst red vintage in Bdx in the last 20+ years. Probably not a long hauler from here though, I'd drink these sooner than later as they'll probably only get thinner and fade away over the next 10 years.

Lots of oak and pruned fruits with a subtle aromatic presence that just doesn't deliver on the palate. Would suggest holding and give this another few years to mellow. For an early drinking vintage this feels very heavy handed.

Medium nose intensity with notes of black fruits, blackcurrant, toast. Medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity.
