  • Very good. I wasn't expecting such a nice, fresh showing making this one of the 'off vintage' successes in the region. Medium+ body, very good complexity, with loads of floral, mineral and soil notes to keep this interesting at every turn. Drinking quite well now, this is not something I'd hold past a few more years if only because it's got so much to offer already. highly recommended

  • Clear dark ruby with an unexpected brown tinge and a tawny rim. Apparently the brown color is common in many '09 Brunellos.

Intoxicating nose of strawberries, frangipani, cedar and dried orange peel that required time and air to coax from the glass. All of that on the palate too, plus ripe cherries, some minerality and sweet sage. Rather tannic, which bodes well for its future but more acidity would have provided a stronger structure. Impressive poise and control for 15% ABV. I thought Galloni a tad unkind with his 78 score. Easy drinking if not their best vintage.
