  • K and Sharon visit New Hope. Bottle purchased at the auction, in my cellar since delivery. Steaks on the grill with veggies and roast potatoes, as good a time as any to try it. Splash decanted, improved in the glass.

Dark garnet gore, no signs of age. Nose jumped out during the decant, continued to evolve in the glass. Ripe berries and floral notes. Palate showing Red and dark fruits, black raspberry, cassis, baking spice. Ripe and brambly mountain fruit throughout, full body, long finish (45 sec). Tannins present but softened.

This has aged beautifully, great expression of mountain fruit, ripe and persistent. Seems other tasters may have gotten it too young or that it needed a decant at those stages? No comparison as this is my first tasting.

With the splash decant this was showing nicely right out of the bottle. It was nice to be able to linger over the wine, take your time if venue allows. Should drink at this level for some time.

  • Underwhelming. Too young, perhaps. There is a purple fruit flavor present that I find representative of lesser wines. Maybe it just needs some time.
