  • PNP. Nose of beef blood, iodine, bakers chocolate, stewed prunes, dried raisin. Initially a port like aroma and a tinge of sweet on the tip of the tongue but that faded after about 30mins in the glass. Nice acidity, some dark fruit (like the nose-prune/raisin, balanced tannin with nice grip. It’s all there. Enjoy!

  • Deep garnet, with significantly browning fading edges, and fine sediments. Aromas of dried redcurrant, red cherry, rocket leaves, dark florals, molasses, and pot soil. Tannins nearly all resolved, whilst acids to exhibit freshness, while fruits are mostly dried, as if raisins and dried cranberry, dried grass, earth and mushroom, and leather. Still holding the fort well with a pretty good length, and pretty complex as well, what with waves of dried fruits and florals. Nice!

  • Ok so you will either love this one or not.
From my dad’s (stopstealing my wine) cellar and I “stole” one.

Gorgeous garnet color. Took about an hour decant to blow off the funk. Then just a unique and lovely aroma of beef jerky (my wife says bacon) and earth (? Pasture) and granite and some red fruit.

I have a few bottles of the 2012 and one of the likely to be near 100 point 2015 such a unique wine. My wife said it tastes like bacon (and that’s not good for her) which is because of the “roteboeuf” character i think more like smoky beef.

Beautiful mouthfeel and actually this bottle is quite youthful with sufficient tannic structure to go a bit longer but if you have this why wait it’s almost certainly at peak or beyond. Long finish for such an old right bank.

Unique and outstanding. 96 (at least) for me,

  • Terroir-istes International - Christmas Party (post Rioja Tasting) (Savage Wines, Cape Town): Medium to deep black ruby. Intense nose with wet earth, red fruits with some pressed red flowers.
Amazingly intense entry with plenty going on, the wine has roasted herbs, black and red fruits with red flowers to rosewater, warm earth and a clay-like texture. Still in fine fettle, the wine has that classic sweetness but with a fresh acid, backdrop finishing with softened red cherry. Entrancing wine this is still fabulous at 36 years old!

  • Light ruby. Still some gloss/glycerin in this beauty. Very exotic nose of plum and roses, earth and truffles. This bottle had a touch of volatility on the nose which blew off eventually but definitely some bottle variation as all other bottles from this cases were 94-95. I think it was a few more years of drinking window and I need to push through the remaining bottles in this case. Great QPR at $82/bt when I bought it about 5 years ago. Untrendy right bank wine from a top wine maker who is not trying to up sell his wine to a ridiculous price. Bravo and thank you from us drinkers!
