Ninety-two is about as high as I go for such a non-Noble grape from Yugo-land or wherever Zin comes from (!). This was a stellar wine; fully resolved tannins, alcohol (15.9%) held in firm check by the fruit, which was nuanced with lots of different layers and notes. This started as a cooking/sipping wine, then to dinner, and it was stellar at each station.
I went to a Mike Officer dinner a couple of years ago where other (another?) 04s were dismissed...well, viewed less favorably in dispatches...this was not one of them (Ah...ah...ah...(feeney)CHOO), but I worried when opeing this that it had not stayed the course. Well, this is in what I think is it's sweetest spot. Awesome Zin.
