13.9% alcohol; composite cork with an aroma of flour, newly mown wheat, glue, wood, and sharp cassis; wine penetration 5 mm; much more aromatic than the usual cork, composite or no – a shame they [Kirkland’s supplier] didn’t venture into real cork; ‘KIRKLAND’ in block letters, double boldface, 2nd line is ‘signature’ in two places on the cork; light weight foil; fast legs, brown/cinnabar/ochre color; nose of prunes, big black seedless grapes, even a little peanut butter; opened, vinturied, and kept in the fridge for 24 hours before tasting, at approximately 12 degrees C; yes, I should have known better to keep a 'black' pinot so long; instead of being sweet or fruity, a slightly bitter, minerally note has crept into the wine. which may not have been there early on; tannins are still present, in abundance, climbing at the back of the tongue into the throat, all the while suppressing the other components of the wine; CellerTracker reports that out of 280 community holdings, 28 have not yet been consumed; hurry up -- it may be too late already; no pairing suggestions or rating given

Drank over 2 evenings. Decanted a few glasses on first evening to burn of the slight initial sulfur smell. Once that was gone, it turned significantly better, improving substantially on the 2nd evening with more depth and complexity showing. 85 is for the 2nd evening - decant this one initially.

Medium purple. A bit harsh with underbrush, celery, muted fruit and bitter. Not recommend.
