  • PNP and enjoyed over 3 hours. I tend to open my Grivot wines too early, so it was great to get a prompt to try this one and have it deliver. This was good right out of the bottle. Dark fruits, great secondaries, no flaws of the vintage present in this bottle. Concentrated but with a very nice finish that makes it great on its own. Improved slightly with air but in general held in the same place throughout dinner. This is right in the window right now but feels like it will hold for quite a while. Really nice and at the upper end of the critics scores in my view. A-

  • Got better as the dinner went on. Easy drinking. Decanted 3 hours ahead.

  • Pale on pouring and a touch watery, needing a couple of hours in the glass to really open up and deepen. Cherry nose, becoming savoury and earthy with plenty of air. Mid-palate dilute, but nice lingering rosehip, spice and smokey finish. Really needs 3hrs in a glass at the moment to show well. This will gain complexity and body in the cellar, although always lack a touch of depth. Hold to 2020 and drink to 2030. 90pts on pouring, but 93pts after 3hrs.

  • Dusty ruby color, and only very slightly tawny at the rim. Black fruits dominant on the nose, reminiscent of black cherries. Some meaty game notes too, perhaps also leather. Oak. Pretty powerful aroma in all. Initial attack is very smooth, rich, and velvety. Plenty of dark fruit, maybe some strawberry and creamy vanilla in there too, and especially thru the length. Tannins are ripe and pretty chunky. Seems to have a nice acidity level, perhaps needing just a touch more. This is long.
