  • Decanted.
From the founding wine maker of Joseph Phelps, who crafted Insignia, this 100% Sonoma wine is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petite Verdot aged in 30% New and 70% 1-3 year old French Oak. 232 Cases produced.
On the nose, after decant, this wine shows classic Sonoma mountain fruit. Black cherry, currant, blackberry and plum with bay leaf, black pepper, herbs, chocolate, earth, cedar and pencil shavings with light aromas of dried flowers.
The palate shows good structure with juicy berry acidity and firm moderate-plus tannins. Flavors of fresh picked blackberries, cherry, currants and plum that show an edge of green with wild herbs, bay leaf and a touch of bell pepper accompanied by notes of black pepper, pencil lead, earth and dark chocolate that lingers through the persistent finish.

Overall an excellent showing of mountain fruit from Sonoma with everything in it's place.
