  • Medium ruby. Forest floor and tobacco on the nose. Medium acidity medium body. On the palate bright with cranberries and baking spices, less body and more lively than I expected with a lot of fruit still showing through on the finish likely influenced by the 10% Grenache. I used to be a Quivira club member and makes me think maybe I should come back. In the meantime I’ll buy these all day long for $20 on WineBid. Outstanding wine.

  • Big and beautiful. I could see making this a regular buy for the cellar. An excellent stand-in to Cabernet with grilled cow, for some change of palate scenery. 5+11+17+8= 91

  • Now mature and in its prime. Very reminiscent of a good Monastrell so it carries its varietal quite well. Dark ruby/garnet color with clear body and no sediment. Medium-profound nose with nice florals and berries. A little mocha and berry smoothie flavors riding a respectable wave of acidity and resolved tannins. Clean, short to medium length finish. 5+11+16+7= 89

  • Drinking very nicely. Creme de Cassis, blackberry, black plum, sage, rosemary and a faint hint of pyrazines. Well integrated tannins. I think this could still improve one more point with more cellar time but sadly this is my last bottle. It did inspire me to order a couple cases of Spanish Monastrell.

  • Opened a bottle two years ago and hated it because of the green stem notes. Opened today and it's still there, but much more subdued and it improved with air. On the nose capers, roast duck, blackberry and milk chocolate. On the palate raspberry coulis, chocolate and toasted coconut with some black olive and burnt wood. Not sure what has changed more in the last two years, this wine or my palate, but I found it quite enjoyable and I believe it has the legs for several more years in the cellar.
