This is exactly what you expect from Barolo 2010 after 10 years. Fruitiness and tannins are still there, but much more secondary and tertiary aromas from oak and ageing. Vanilla, cloves, dried fruits, forest floor, mushroom. The colour is almost brown. Depending on the storage conditions it is ready for drink like this example or can be aged more.

Medium body with a shy nose upon opening. After warming from cellar temp to room temp, 30 minutes, it opened well. Red fruit and some floral notes on the nose continue to the pallet with an early tartness that disappeared after another 30 minutes. Could possibly mistake for a bigger barbaresco if you didn't know what it was. Probably at peak with some bricking at the rim with terrior, cedar and leather present. Well done barolo.

Amazingly, this wine keeps going and going. We opened it Friday night, double decanted and had a couple of glasses. Big red and dark fruit nose with a lot of tannic structure. Having it again on Sunday under argon for a couple of days it has evolved nicely, still with a big nose and more integrated tannins. Anise, black cherry, currant, forest floor, vegetal, Chinese 5-spice. Way better.
Who would guess? I would, and find Barolo and this type of experience intriguing but very frustrating. Any comments would be appreciated.
