I am afraid that we got to this one just a little too late. Still good, but with a bit more oxidization than I prefer -- and I prefer more than the norm. Nevertheless, there was some solid fruit underneath it all to provide a hint at what once was. Drink up! ASAP
Slightly cloudy golden yelllow in colour. Nose of honey, macintosh apple, and some funkiness. Dry, med acidity, med body, honey, apple, and gooseberry on palate. Not much length. Paired wine with a stir fry and it was a great paring. Scored as high as I did because of how well it was drinking for its age. It is definitely at the end of its life. If you have some drink it now. It won't be getting any better.
Left Bank Bordeaux Group Tasting (Chez Matt et Reema): Very funky, racy and fresh. So youthful, based on cork condition this has a long road ahead. Mangosteens, star fruit, wet stones, sous bois, gooseberry, scorched earth, minerals. Not sure what % the blend is but probably more sauv blanc than semillon. Mixed reception to this one from the group but I was a big fan of this. One of the group members noted this drinks like Smith Haut Laffite of same vintage.
