  • Wow! this smells just like a Hunter Semillon
    Limes and toast
Plenty of acidity here, still razor sharp lemony fruit, so fresh, it is blossoming though with creamy/ toasty notes almost as if it's oaked (it isn't)
    Spectacular!

  • At Milos in Miami, recommended by the somm. I don't have broad knowledge of Greek wines but always enjoy them...was looking to pair with grilled fish.

Pale yellow color w/greenish tinge. Nose was citrus, orange peel. Rounded and fruity palate of citrus, lemon, apricot. Medium mouth feel and finish. Could have mistaken for a Sauvignon Blanc w fruitier profile. Excellent pairing for the fish/veggies and Greek salads. Would also make a good Summer aperitif

  • While dining at a Milo's, a Greek restaurant on Miami Beach, I noted this bottle of Assyrtiko on the wine list ($65). When I find uncommon varietals, I like to try them.
This wine is 100% tank fermented Assyrtiko and has a greenish yellow color and a nose of grapefruit and citrus. It is very fruity with tastes of gooseberry, grapefruit, and lemon. It also has a little bit of spicy ginger present, towards the finish. There is a taste of peach and apricot, which adds some sweetness, and buffers the tart citrus tastes. This wine has a rich mouthfeel and has adequate zesty acidity. It is medium bodied and balanced with a short to moderate finish. This Assyrtiko, from Pangeon, Macedonia, tastes somewhat like a Sauvignon Blanc. It is very food friendly and paired well with our Greek salad, octopus, and fish dishes.

  • This wine is representative of the winery's house style and to many it is far from being a typical asyrtiko. Expressive nose of mango, passion fruit, ripe apricot and orange zest. Medium+ bodied with sweet fruit and balancing acidity. Med-long aftertaste. Very close to Ovilos. Tasted alongside the 2011 Sigalas Cavalieros, which represents a totally different style. Most voted for the latter but Areti received a satisfying number of votes too.
