light to mid yellow. Fair intensity of aromas with white peach, nectarine, nuts and lemon rind. More youthful than expected at six years old. Zippy, vibrant acidity balances a richer mid-palate that shows the breadth of flavour and some bolder stone fruit flavours. The oak is well integrated, and the length is relatively long. Not overly complex but a delicious wine.

Celebration of Chardonnay (De Wetshof, Robertson): (Tasted Blind): Mid lemon colour with abundant lemon notes, flint and some light peach. The wine has a vibrant acidity and a charming flinty mineral quality with prominent lemon peel and curd. There is a twist of pastry oak spices on the close—mid finish.

South African Wine + Surf Trip; 5/17/2014-6/1/2014 (Western Cape, South Africa): An aromatic mix of honey, salted nuts, tree bark and apricot. Juicy and plump on the palate, with lots of complex nutty-honeyed tones. But this oak-aged Chardonnay shows terrific, lip-smacking acid, a combination that can be rare. The white peach and apricot fruit blends together with honey, sea salt and mixed nuts. The oak gives the wine these complex salted nut components, not just smoke and hardwood, and the acid sings.
