Really liked my first bottle of this in Jan. 2017 but it appears to have declined somewhat over the course of the year. This bottle had a bit of a corky aroma upon opening that blows off partially, giving way to cigar box, dried berry and hay. Palate shows hints of what I enjoyed about the last bottle: a subtly tobacco-like mid-palate, crushed blackberry, very fine tannin. Thins out on the finish. Acid is still well balanced.

Pleasant wine with a couple of layers of flavor that balance together nicely, specifically a tamarind / stewed berry note along with lardon / earth. Silky, juicy tannin. Drinking really well right now but mid-palate is a bit thin, suggesting it is in its last good year or so.

Has crisp and slightly closed aromas of blackfruits, chalk and black olives. Its medium bodied solidish yet rustic blocky, austere black fruits palate ends shortish and a bit tannic. Not great QPR here. Surprised this came from the Douro. Would have expected better.

PnV straight to the glass. Dense purple garnet almost saturated with plum to clear rim. Herbal plum a blackberry compote on the nose. Medium weight with slight black tea tannins. Racy black and red fruits on the palate. A bit weak in the middle and on the slightly acidic finish. All right for a Tuesday wine but would not rush to buy again.
