It was so good we even tried to buy more straight away. Full bodied with tastes of liquorice and a slightly medicinal taste when first opened. Perfect with the strong flavours of olives and trompette de la mort risotto we were having. It held its own.

A quick double decant back to back of this to try to make up for no real decant time, this is inky dark purple in the glass with a nose that is all black currants, chocolate, black licorice and a floral touch. The palate is thick with the currants chocolate and licorice with clear vanilla in play. All of the flavor came out with time in the glass, this definitely needs several hours of decant time or another 5 + years of cellar time, which it is clearly capable of, the acidity is bright and the tannins are aggressive. The finish is very drawn out and dictated by the tannic structure. Give this a lot of time and I think it will develop into a high quality Malbec.

Clear, deep purple. Clean, medium-intensity, youthful nose, with aromas of blackberry, blueberry, bramble, violet, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Dry on the palate, medium acid, high tannin, medium(+) alcohol, full body, pronounced intensity, and the same flavor profile as the nose plus some pepper and dark chocolate. Medium(+) finish. Very good, can drink now, but will improve, premium price.

(Château Lagrezette Cahors Cru d'Exception) Saturated, very dark ruby color; aromatic, tart berry, tart black currant nose; tasty, plush, poised, tart berry, tart black currant palate; could use 2-3 years; medium-plus finish (85% Malbec; 14.5% alcohol) 92+ points
