light color tending to orange. light hint of tabacco, leather at opening (Cellar temp 12C). still some fruit left. high on aciditty. little tanines left. not much fruit left. drink now. continued to develop nicely well 5 hrs after opening. acidity flowing away and dark fruit tones appeared. wine maintained balances.

Beef and Vosne (Holland Park): Like the last bottle I had, this was slightly underperforming. The nose was a knockout. Full of exotic Vosne spice - pepper and cloves and sandalwood - along with sweet cherries and strawberries, perfume violets, and then more savoury earthy notes. Just beautiful. The palate was unfortunately a step or two behind the nose though. While clean and pure, with nice, limpid flavours of dark cherries and berries, and lovely notes of spice and earth, this just came across a bit thinner than one would have liked, especially towards the finish, where citrussy acidity and a bit of sour plums trialed away on the back palate. Good, but not quite as compelling as some of the other wines on the night.

This is very Vosne with a nice balance between the black and red pinot fruit. The nose is slightly reductive, but otherwise quite stellar with spices, red currants, plums, violet, some rose petal and forest floor. Great balance between acidity and sweetness. As with almost all of these wines it had gorgeously long and saturated finish. A remarkable effort.

Casual Burgundy Dinner (Brindille - Chicago IL): Red berry and cherry throughout with savory spice. Easy to enjoy and accessible from the moment opened, this came across as moderately lean and well balanced. started fading at the 3 hour mark. Best to enjoy near term.

(Domaine Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Chaumes) Cloudy, bricking, medium dark red violet color; brett, cranberry, tart cherry nose; savory, brett, cranberry, tart cherry, mushroom palate; medium-plus finish
(Meo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Chaumes") Oak. Oak. Oak. Still though this had amazing material to back up all that oak. Gobs of concentrated fruit and a super-ripe intensity. Almost like Cabernet of Burgundy. I liked it though.
