Tasted by orcharddude22 on 5/2/2009 & rated 90 points: Brambles, peeper, licorice and black fruit. A bit of alcohol that blows off quite quickly. Smooth mouthfeel. Starting to fade. (363 views)
Tasted by spotfin on 3/1/2009 & rated 90 points: Fruit forward, smooth, clipped finish, a little bit of heat. (438 views)
Tasted by gutt22 on 12/27/2008: 15.4% alcohol. Beautiful dark red color. Fragrant bouquet that represents the best in RRV Zinfandel. Dusty cherry, spicy black fruit, minerals, and a hint of earth. In the mouth, concentrated and rather plush but maintaining a sense of linear freshness. Very nice acidity. Long finish, with no sense of heat. A terrific Zinfandel from a ripe vintage.  Tasted by Anonymous on 12/25/2008: Compared to a recent bottle that we opened a few weeks ago, this had virtually no alcohol heat and the most seductive texture, smooth and rich, with kirsch and dark fruits--all somehow balanced in an elegant finish. Fabulous and the best of multiple premium Zins we tasted last night. (453 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 12/5/2008: Delicious and overall better to my tastes than most previous notes. Extraordinary dark cherry kirsh flavors in a rich body. Only complaint is alcohol heat which comes and goes. (503 views)
Tasted by caboychuck on 11/19/2008: Ruby color. Plumb, strawberry and raspberry on the nose. Nice elegant wine. Flavors of raspberry, cherry. Opens quickly to a nice, big flavorful wine with raspberry liquor. (555 views)
Tasted by Haltermr on 9/12/2008 & rated 89 points: Sweet nose of plum, blueberry, pine needle, smoke, and pepper. Some heat. Smooth palate with a bit of a dip toward the midpalate. Smoke and tannin on the finish. Overall good, but not as good as past recolections. A bit candied on the nose. (579 views)

Tasted by Anonymous on 3/5/2008 & rated 89 points: Medium density and a bit hot over the course of the evening... (959 views)
Tasted by JonnyB on 2/15/2008 & rated 85 points: I greatly enjoyed my first bottle of this in 7/06 but this wine has either fallen apart since then or this bottle is slightly corked. It was stored in a proper cellar. None of the nose, flavor and finish of my original tasting. I say drink up. TWO DAYS LATER after being put in a .375 and the fridge, just horrible......poured it out. very sad. I hope all my RC's aren't doing this. (957 views)
Tasted by Quequeg on 2/15/2008 & rated 89 points: Truly excellent; rich, chewy, falvorful. A bit hot upon opening, but settled down nicely. Surprisingly, not a good match with very spicy food, but terrific all on its own thereafter. (1020 views)
Tasted by lbrent on 2/3/2008 & rated 89 points: Spicy blackberry nose, with a tad of white pepper on the palate. (1053 views)
Tasted by Haltermr on 1/25/2008 & rated 90 points: A sweet core of black raspberry and blueberry give way to elegant notes of pine needle, white pepper, integrated oak and a whiff of smokiness. Lush midpalate without heaviness, the detractor is a touch of bitterness on the finish that is medium short in length. I always really enjoy this wine. Paid for 2 day for this bottle...look forward to the lesser ground shipping charges on my next purchase! (1027 views)

Tasted by jaimetown on 11/19/2007 & rated 89 points: My last bottle of this - opened and served without decanting. This wine showed more oak notes than previous bottles of 2004s - dark ripe fruits held up well against the oak, but I was expecting more "purity" based on previous examples of R-C Zinfandels. Still a nice bottle of wine though so far not at the level of 2003/2002 examples. Perhaps they need more bottle age? (1286 views)
Tasted by tederf on 11/10/2007 & rated 90 points: Drank at the Zin night at Fayette St. Grill. This was up against some fine Turley and Ridge bottles. As one of the tastes in the first flight - it did OK. I thought it has good aromatics - spice, pepper, black fruit. The alcohol wasn't overwhelming neither was the oak. Needed a bit more "heft" to compete with the heavier wines tasted later. This still has some aging to do before I open the other bottle. This paired well with the duck. (1201 views)
Tasted by Winetex on 10/22/2007 & rated 90 points: Closer to a 91 (1460 views)
Tasted by auto on 7/7/2007 & rated 91 points: Wife scored wine 91, me 90. Spicy, blackberry boquet. Definitely a complex wine missing/lacking the over sweetness or jamminess of a Martinelli, but very structured. Finish is long, with just a touch of heat and chocolate. A very well structured wine, might let the next one sit for a year. (1424 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 7/4/2007: Drinking well right now. The previously noticeable alcohol seemed well integrated; nose of powdered chocolate, spice, and then opens up to reveal lovely blackberry fruit; palate is rich, with very good balancing acidity. A sizable wine, which avoids being too big or monolithic. Very enjoyable. (1471 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
