Opened and poured over two nights. Very dark, brambly black thick profile. Heady jungle of spices, blacks and char-grilled blues dominate. Some classic zin aromatics, leading one into the Amazon of bushwhacking fruits. Plush and humid, but not overly so. Quite enjoyable.

These Carlisle wines with 10+ years of age on them always kill! This 2012 was right on the money. Dense black fruits, hint of tar, smoky, a little herbaceous on the finish. Just a well drinking wine that can either be enjoyed a la carte or with a whole host of foods. Dense and thick. Beautiful! This one still has 5-7 years left, easily. I'm thinking about bringing out some 20+ year Carlisle wines to see where they are, as I'm sure they are still going with the incredible structure these wines have.

Poppped and poured for steak night with H and A. Really nice dark fruits. Could use just a bit more backbone (acid and or tannins) for the weight of this wine. I will drink my last bottle soon.

A fine wine, but past prime? Lacked the tannic structure needed to keep in balance the fading raspberry fruit notes with high/medium+ acid. Thus, a bit sour (nice wine, 3-5 year too late). It wasnt just the vintage though, I recently had a different 2012 Sonoma Zin. I'm guessing that the 2012 Martinelli Zinfandel Lolita Ranch I tasted had more stem contact.
