MNB: Whole cluster in Pinot (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Pale ruby. Strong reduction - coin polish. Slight terpenes - smells like... weed/grapefruit/hops. This is faulted - I can't get past the coin polish on the nose. Dry, light body, 14% alcohol (correct), elevated acid, 10% new French oak (slight vanilla and baking spice), low tannins - a bit scratchy.
No whole cluster, 10% new French oak, Oregon Pinot 2015, $20 2012 Carrick Pinot, Bannockburn Central Otago, NZ, $35 20% new French oak This is a terrible example of Central Otago Pinot - lacking depth of fruit and acidity.

Really enjoyed this. Notable for its broad (but not biting) line of acidity, with fresh cranberry and other dark red fruit. Superb freshness and drinkability, moderate complexity. Wish I'd aged this, my only bottle.

m- ruby. strawberry and red cherry in nose, quite fruity palate, some dry herbal and nutty, restrained earthy. super smooth texture, a little warm, ripe tannins (nearly overripe). the finish is not long with a little bitterness.
a moderate Bannockburn, charming with some complexity and elegance. but still at early stage, mainly showing simple fruity flavours.
Alc 14.0%, TA 5.5 g/L, pH 3.60, 14 months in French oak, 20% new. BC 93, JS 93, WE 90, WS 88, ST 89, MC 4 stars
Carrick's official vintage chart shows it need to be hold at least 5-6 years, then has another 5 years to climb peak, even 2000 vintage is still good for drink. not convinced by this bottle.
Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 4+3/10 Total 91+/100

Central Otago Pinot Noir (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Funky and farty, wild ferment over red berry fruit, muted spice and earthy notes. In the mouth the wine is juicy, fresh red berry fruit backed by plentiful tannins but all finishes a little short. Hmm.

Very powerful pinot. High acidity, lengthy in mouth. Not a typical NZ pinot.
