Dark yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of salted caramel, sherry and brandy soaked pears. Flavors of baked brie,, yellow apples and yellow pears. Medium acidity, medium body. Drink now.

This is best consumed immediately after opening, but this was one very enjoyable bottle. Everything I hope for in an aged California Chardonnay. Apricot preserves, brioche, some honeysuckle. In my experience this bottling tends to age well in most vintages, and this was no exception.

Lots of brioche toast on the nose, along with a hint of pine resin; fat and heavy mouthfeel supported by a frame of oak and moderate acidity; indistinct flavors melding hazelnut oil, buttered popcorn and a raw woodiness that turns a bit harsh on the finsih. This won't improve, so drink up.

The nose gives initial leesy-smoky notes with hints of red apple skin and toast; not very expresive; oak, almond oil and faint savory spices in the mouth, with a cutting acidity that dominates the mouthfeel; short, angular finish dominated by oak. Whatever fruit was here is now fading.

Very old, and well past its prime, but still pretty nice.
