Deep dark red, opaque. Nose of fresh cut oak, touch of vanilla, some smoke, and a hefty amount of green pepper. The abundance of wood is masking pretty much whatever fruit it could provide. A full bodied wine with blackberries, green pepper, and oak with austere tannins. This is perhaps, the most disappointing wine I've had from Carmen. Should've drank a few years ago.

Ripe, balanced, fruity palate offset by well integrated oak. Good, solid plum and currant fruit. Plump finish with lots of smokey, chocolaty notes
