Tasted right after La Rioja Alta's 2005 Gran Reserva 904. Very different, a lot more modern and sweeter. More dark fruit, quite jammy, blunt and big. The alcohol sticks out a little on the palate. Nice length to the finish, and very smooth and rich but overall a little heavy. 89-91
DHWine. Dark cherry-red in colour this is a well-rounded wine. Nose: licorice notes and berries. Minty notes and red/black berries, with a long finish. Excellent with or without food (tasted with blue cheese, sun-dried peppers, Spanish tortilla, ham and cured meat sausage).
