Tasted blind. Dark ruby purple color turning violet at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose gives off a bit of a modern take on Rioja with smoky earth on ripe dark berries. The palate is full bodied with medium plus acidity that balances the dark cherry, plum and pomegranate with secondary notes of vanilla on what seems to be a bit too much of oak. Nevertheless, everything checks out. Finishes long and savory. Drink now until 2034.

Excellent wine. A more modern (riper) style of Rioja as compared to Castillo Ygay, for example. Consumed over 2 days. Was better on day 2, which would suggest that, if you would like consume in one sitting, a long decant would be advisable.

Deep violet color, very aromatic with scents of cherry and tobacco. Opened and decanted for about an hour prior to serving. Served with chicken fajitas. Rich cherry and blackberry liqueur flavors with tobacco notes. Some have mentioned a port-like character, I didn’t sense the sweet notes of port, but from a richness of texture and blackberry flavor perspective, I appreciate the comparison.

Needs a couple more years of storage but it already shows great potential.
