Pretty bouquet of flowers, berries, and quality oak. Light to medium body, excessive oak, and although technically excellent, the light concentration and excessive polish lead to a lack of appeal. The 92.6 average score at the time of this note is difficult to understand.

The Nearly Annual Lyon 10 Year Retro Tasting (Lyon's Den): I was hoping I would like this more in this blind tasting. The Sangiovese must have gotten to me... Great color noted while I'm pouring for everyone. Black cherry, plum, raspberry, mocha and some savory notes. Really nice texture but finishes with a mouthful of acid and tannins. Same on day 2.

Decanted 2+ hours. Young but worth to pop a bottle (with enough air). This might improve with more age. 92 pts. at the moment.

Starts to show after 33 minutes in electronic decanter (~16.5 hours traditional decanting)
Initial note is red fruit, after comes black fruit, with smell of tobacco leaf/leather/licorice.
Long finish, still remember the next day.
55 % Merlot, 45 % Sangiovese.
Drinking well now. A fruity wine.

A few years of cellar have rounded significantly the overall profile of this fruit bomb with very velvety tannins, notes of oak, vanilla, leather. Perfect bottling of the Tuscan sun of summer 2011.
