  • Very good but not at the same level of the other bottle I had 6 months ago. Bottle variation perhaps?

  • Outstanding wine. Aging perfectly. Earthy. Dark . beautiful fruits.

  • Nice bottle of CA PN. Medium body, but perhaps felt mike Med+ due to the 15+% ABV. Despite its apparent DRC genetics, definitely did not remind me of a top Burgundy; in fact tasted like a top CdP such as the Cuvee Reserve from Dom Clos de Pegau. Score was based on impressions as a generic red wine, if you expected or were hoping for a PN, i would take off another 5 or 6 points. I am pretty sure this is first time I have scored a wine nearly 10 points different than RP, but just can't see it ever being a perfect score.

  • I realize this is a controversial wine with the comparisons to DRC and La Tache. I will try to keep this as objective as possible. I'll start with saying that I've never tasted any wine by DRC, and am probably unlikely to ever do so. So I cannot comment on any comparison to DRC or La Tache.

But I do drink a lot of wine....

I'm also not one for long winded cellar tracker notes, but this warrants an exception.

I served this to my wife blind. She said "It's really really good; I cannot find any fault in this wine." So there you go.

Decanted for 30min and then consumed over the following 3hrs with dinner - rack of lamb. Also drinks very well on its own.

Absolutely enchanting nose. Perhaps the best I've had so far in my life. People talk about "forest floor" in a wine and now I understand what they mean. Brilliant nose, complex.. and yes...forest floor, mushroom, but also somewhat floral. Not rose petals, but it smells like my wife's flower garden. It's stunning.

Palate: Cherry, mild vanilla, slight white pepper, cinnamon, hints of leather and tobacco. Everything seems in balance. Oak is in check, vanilla is present but only in a very mild and unobtrusive way.

Finish: 45-60 seconds, acidity and tannins seem perfectly in check.

This is my 1st of 3 bottles. Although this wine held up well over 3hrs I do feel as though it is probably at or near peak and I'm not sure how much there is to be gained by further cellaring. I will probably consume one bottle in the near future and hold my last one for 3-5 years.

Would be very curious to know what others think....
