Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 25 notes)

Tasted by CabIsKing on 11/16/2009 & rated 87 points: Nothing spectacular going on here. Very disappointed. Black fruits, cassis and vanilla on the nose with a bit of the same on a weak finish. Alot of better bottles out there for the same price or cheaper. (162 views)

Tasted by Grizwine on 8/6/2009 & rated 92 points: (398 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 1/25/2009 & rated 86 points: Good enough effort. Cassis, dried herbs and vanilla. Perhaps a bit too much oak. Lacking energy or excitement. Average. (1568 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 1/20/2009 & rated 85 points: Perhaps pairing this with BBQ was a mistake, but this really was a disappointment. Mute nose, average palate, medium short finish. Nothing here really excited me. (1578 views)
Tasted by Anonymous on 12/21/2008 & rated 88 points: Very nice, well-behaved, balanced Cab, with classic cassis, dried herbs and vanilla flavors. Smooth texture and quite drinkable, but the back end was a bit weak, with a somewhat attenuated finish. (1563 views)

Tasted by TCKM on 10/6/2008 & rated 89 points: Dark purple color and nose of black fruits and oak. Black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and cassis. Good mouthfeel and structure. A good bordeaux blend, but the QPR seems a little off... there are better choices out there for $40. (1608 views)
Tasted by winelovr2001 on 9/24/2008 & rated 88 points: A nice napa cab...not worth the tariff, but good. Oak, dill, dried herbs, red fruits and firm tannins. (1614 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 9/12/2008 & rated 88 points: A reasonably nice bordeaux blend with dark fruit a bit overshadowed by oak, but still a decent everyday bordeaux blend. (1656 views)
Tasted by wirelesswine on 7/3/2008 & rated 89 points: (1243 views)
Tasted by sneezy on 3/23/2008 & rated 89 points: Weak nose when compared to an adjacent Bordeaux, tasted a bit of wood then berries, a bit acidic but tannins were better at beginning. the wine did not improve with time to open. Not worth the money when compared to similarly priced Chateaux Laroque Bordeaux. (2003 views)

Tasted by Anonymous on 10/20/2007 & rated 89 points: (1730 views)
Tasted by FoodieEsq on 9/6/2007 & rated 83 points: Nice Napa fruit overshadowed by overuse of French Oak. Will not buy again. (2711 views)
Tasted by SBA Guru on 8/29/2007 & rated 90 points: Nice blend mature at a young age. (2495 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 5/26/2007 & rated 90 points: Very nice.
Paired with Mary's Carne Asada (Rib-eye) and my
New York Strip Carne Asada style.
Deep ruby color.
Nose of dark red berries, mocha, and light spice.
Nice balance. Moderate to high tannins and acidity.
Solid BV. (2852 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 3/14/2007 & rated 92 points: What a beautiful bordeaux blend.
Wasn't expecting such quality out of a BV wine.

Big legs. Deep ruby color.
Nose of blackberries, wood, and cocoa.
Very nice mouth feel with a balanced finish.
Moderate to high acidity and alcohol.
Moderate tannins.
Perfect accompanyment to our goat cheese fondue and
mustard crusted chicken sandwich. (3213 views)
Tasted by Mark on 3/7/2007 & rated 81 points: Tasting note from memory. This was not very impressive. I usually like the Tapestry, and have it going back to 1993. This is clearly the least impressive one that I’ve had in the last decade. Missing a middle component, very dry and lacking of character. Was this a bad bottle? I’m not convinced it was. (3168 views)
Tasted by Btrue on 1/26/2007 & rated 92 points: (2358 views)
Tasted by Wicker Parker on 12/1/2006: What a terrific claret — it surprised me with its nose of strawberry and raspberry, its flavors of raspberry and currant and bell pepper, and especially its good length, acidity, and minerality. A joy to drink. When people refer to how California wine was back in the '70s, I imagine this lighter-bodied, well-balanced wine represents that era. (1830 views)
Tasted by EricB on 11/19/2006 & rated 84 points: Dark, smooth - Merlot takes the forefront in this blend. (3500 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
