Outside it’s drinking window per se, but still really nice A touch of orange, but the fruit has fallen off i would imagine and is almost non-existent A bit of nut, herb, and grass Nice texture is even more prominent but enough acidity and mineral to keep it upright I would drink now if you got em

Corsican Vermentino – what, you haven’t had any? Better get on that, if this bottle is any indication. It was a shy one, that’s for sure – it took a good solid decant to help coax out the wealth of subtle notes and surprising complexity this wine had to offer. And offer it did, once opened up; both nose and palate were a wonderful contrast of floral notes, lemon/lime, and white peach versus savoury herbs (fennel, bay), white pepper, and stone/minerality. Lees aging provided the wine with hints of yeast and a creamy sense, despite its overall freshness. Pineapple and toasted almonds lingered pleasantly on the finish. This was quite the tightrope walk between lively and rich, but one navigated with finesse and winemaking expertise. Overall, an excellent offering from a seemingly rediscovered region that I think (hope) we’ll all be hearing a lot more from moving forward.

89 pts

Beautiful Vermentino. Bright orange fruit and herb, some glycerine, excellent acidity.
