Still deep color. Lots of black and blue fruit, blackberries, black cherries and blackcurrants in the nose with licorice, leather, coffee, spice, and floral notes. Blackberries, black cherries, and black raspberries in the flavory. Full bodied, nice acidity and complexity, very well balanced and a long finish.

I don't seem to be tasting the same wine others notes indicate. This, and a bottle a few years ago have been tight and showing little. The tannins are in better balance now, but one had to work hard to coax out a nose and flavor. We are very TCA sensitive but neither of us caught a hint of that. I've really enjoyed Ramey syrahs in the past, but these bottles have not been very giving. Properly stored, and purchased not long after release at retail in the South. I've not had indications of heat or shipping issues with other Ramey wines from that merchant. This bottle 87 to 88 pts

A great showing tonight as is usually the case with my favorite CA Syrah. More CA Cote Rotie to be precise but better than any Cote Rotie that I’ve had at this price. Red fruit, herbs, iron, soy and nori notes with elegance and persistence from the attack through to the finish. Seems to be in a great place now. I’m a fan. And it’s a superb value.

An incredible showing from the master, David Ramey, as we tasted this over two nights in a Syrah lineup comparing old world and new. Aromatically complex right out of the gate with smoked meat, black cherry fruit, and tobacco. It evolved to earthy and herbal notes on day two of mint chocolate, menthol, herbs, and black cherry. Bold and beautiful Syrah coming from a single vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. My second favorite Syrah in a lineup of 7 ranging from Hermitage, Cornas, Barossa Valley, Howell Mtn and Sonoma.
