  • Williams Selyem with this kind of age never disappoints, nor does the 2012 Napa/Sonoma vintage.

Mid & darker fruits & mid berry cola burst out of glass. Limestone minerals, crushed rock, steeped tea and bright, fresh red florals.

It glides on the palate with ripe, juicy fruits that are; dark cherries, strawberries, blackberries, black raspberries, pomegranate, dry cranberries, blueberries & some boysenberries. Red cola/licorice, dark spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, vanillin, dark rich soil, dry twig, crushed limestone, dry top soil, saline, fresh, bright, dark, red forals with violets, excellent rainfall acidity with an elegant, balanced finish that falls on dry minerals and that lasts two-minutes.

Quality consistent yr in yr out. Their style is my Pinot wheelhouse. Now owned by Domaine Faiveley.

  • Excellent, surprisingly better than the bottle I had in 2018. Quite a bit of sediment. Used a "Nuance Wine Finer" (=in line Aerator/Strainer/Pourer) with very good results. Fully mature, tannins are gone, but still has a few more years. Beautiful deep, transparent ruby color, with almost no brown tinge. Very well balanced, lively acidity, pronounced red fruit and citrusy flavors. I wish I had more but this was my last bottle of this vintage.

  • Drank very well. Dark cherry fruit w some spices, violets, cola. Velvety smooth w medium finish but a little bite too. Feels like it’s holding here but time to consume.

  • Bark and berries;good snap; tea leaves. My experience with W-S Pinots over the years is that as a rule they strike me as leaning towards more treble/less bass, and this bottle is definitely in that mold. Seems to be a stylistic house fingerprint.

Day 2: Leftover glass is more complete after sitting in a mostly empty bottle for a day. Weightier. There is a tradeoff though as there is a little less freshness now, a little less agility.

  • Decanted for 15 minutes with some slight sediment. Better than our bottle of 11/27/21 - maybe due to more aeration? A clear medium violet to a watery rim. Dark red fruit and earth on the nose. These carry over to the medium bodied palate along with some black tea and spice, and the acidity was relatively balancing. Not sure how much longer these will hold but they do seem to be somewhat advanced at this stage.
