88: This drank fantastic right out of the bottle with the only aeration coming from the pour. Incredible dark dark red, almost purple, with only a hint of brown along the edge. Ropey legs on the swirl. Distinct red fruit on the nose that continues to the palate, where a dark cherry sweet-yet-not-sweetness pervades. Not much terroir to speak of. Very mellow on the tannins, unlike a lot of Zins, owing no doubt to the winemaker's prowess in sussing out the beauty of these grapes. Paired awesome with a chimichurri flank steak, highlighting the herbs while complementing the richness of the meat itself. This was a beautifully drinkable wine despite being officially several years past the "drink now" stage. The only flaw was a lack of significant complexity, rendering this somewhat forgettable -- though still very enjoyable.

It tastes like blackberry, blueberry and fig. Aroma had hint of tar. Light wine; nearly see-through. I didn't find any of the distinct flavones I expected from the tasting I did at the vineyard the year prior. Used a quality aerator which definitely improved the flavor of the wine. It started on the small side, but grew into a fuller flavor with the aerator.

Not sure if this is still in my cellar, but should be good for a few more years.

The body is light. The wine has low acidity. Fabulous.
