Needs a major decant or a few more years on its side. The acid is still predominant at this point, and with air, the fruit shows still very much primary. For ~$60, this is a helluva deal and would be fun to try again 8-10 years from now.
24 hours after decanting, this was still tight and restrained. It took several more hours of pouring and tasting before it finally started opening up. Still some hefty tannins, with a core of sweet fruit, moderate acidity. Perhaps a few more years.
Well, well, well! Four years of discipline since my last tasting, and I can finally notice the possibility of a powerful balance between fruit, tannin and acid. Tannins are still dominant, certainly not soft, but no longer harsh, and they provide a confident foundation. The fruit has not faded, and it competes quite well; the combination is very intense. Some interesting vanilla or caramel undercurrents. Dark ruby with edges turning brown more than orange. That describes well the flavors, also: dark cherry with vanilla and hints of tar. I think this is aging extremely well, but the strong tannins, good fruit and acidic edge suggest that another few years will be highly rewarded.
Da magnum. Naso dal profilo molto classico, con arancia in evidenza e rosa più sfumata. Non mancano i tocchi balsamici della Bussia. Bocca ferocissima con un tannino fitto e pieno, e una bella spalla acida. Ancora decisamente indietro
No detailed note. This struck me as very young. Still possesses astringent tannins and strong acid. Nice enough example, but not so outstanding that I would invest significantly in the cellaring that I think this still requires.
