Decanted two hours . V deep colour. Gorgeous rich confit of figs on nose, very intense. Firm sweet fruit on palate , tannins firm but ripe, still structured but amazing length and restrained power. Very impressive. Will see how it develops over next couple of days.
Cork came out almost cleanly. Nose of corkiness. Color still red and medium light. On the palate the wine show light tannins, no corkiness at all and sweeter than a typical Dow's vintage Port. Excellent maturity but no hurry. Lucky that the cork smell was light enough that some airing also helped.

(Dow's Vintage Port) Quite a dark hue to this wine, with dense, chewy fruits on the nose. Rich and structured on the palate, which is reserved rather than lush or open. A huge core of tannin, especially on the finish. Sweet and dense fruit, and lovely extract. This is mouthfilling and savoury. Good length. Drinking well now despite that tannin, but will benefit from another 5-10 years in the cellar.
