Belated birthday dinner: Wow I never met anything quite like this, if you think Sauternes was sweet this took it to a whole new level. Very dark brown in colour for such a young wine, such immense weight and heft to it. Caramel notes with almost a syrupy texture. Certainly rich and impressive but not in my wheelhouse at all.

Taste of Summer at Helene Darroze (Helene Darroze): Richer than I expected from a Chenin, even of this style, but it did retain a freshness on the finish that kept the wine from resembling e.g. a near-undrinkable Rutherglen Muscat. Caramel, apricot, a toastiness. Nice match for our (not particularly sweet) apricot dessert.

Dark caramel in colour, on the nose, oranges, cinnamon, and spice. On the palette, intense orange peel, caramel notes, and luxurious mouth feel, with a finish that lasted minutes. A joy of a wine for a special occasion.

From 375ml. Dark golden-amber colour. Powerful nose of apricot and pineapple. More apricot and pineapple on the palate, along with mango, quince, honey, cane sugar, lanolin and lemon curd. Intense acidity. Richly viscous. An enjoyable treat had over two nights with carmalized pineapple and goat-cheese cheesecake (perfectly complimented both). One of the very best values when considering dessert wine. World class.
