HDH auction at avec (Chicago, IL): Somehow simultaneously fatter and higher acid than the Ramonet. Comes across as one of those wines where everything is pulled really far in all directions.

Fantastic wine. Did not take official notes on it, just enjoyed it will gorging on fresh Dungeness crab. Decanted and not kept on ice. bloomed and evolved the whole time.

Allowed 6 hours of bottle breathing. Sharp and intense mineral and citrus aroma. Good texture, mineral backbone and subtle oak influence. Good acidity. Well-made Chassagne 1er. On the up-side.

Light straw. Oaky spice and exotic fruit on the nose. Citrus and stone on the palate. Medium acidity. Cool, crisp. Shows more oak than is typical for the producer.

Hazy straw. Smokey reduction gives way to surprisingly ripe fruit for the cool 2013 vintage, though it shows a bit exotic, which is more inline with the year. Citrus, stone, and honey on the palate. This is wicked good and a pleasant surprise from this climat, which so often underperforms. Best with a few more years cellar rest.
