  • Aromatic, with strong clove and flowers/rose, along with red fruit and something savory; attractive, albeit somewhat heavy on the clove (but the clove does seem to diminish with a bit of air and/or palate acclimation). Crunchy, juicy cherry-cranberry-hibiscus, with good acidity, and spicy and floral aspects as on the nose. More open than when I tried this on release more than three years ago, but also maybe slightly less vibrant although it does have a fresh streak remaining. In any case, characterful and tasty, and with a high "glou glou" factor.

  • Another winner Beaujolais from Bruno Debize. Red fruit, earth, minerals, firm acidic spine, everything I look for in Beaujolais.

  • I had black tea, stony minerality, boysenberry, baked gingerbread -- and then I read Beerzebub's note and it washed all of my own thoughts straight outta the brainpan. This is a great, great wine -- at any price, but definitely at this one. Best vintage yet for the Vested Man, in my book.

  • PnP; needs several minutes of air to begin to open up. Scents of red fruit, sap, earth, a savory note like dark bread crust, and hints of flowers; pretty, and has some depth. Similar on the palate - fresh tart red fruit and hibiscus, sap, black tea, stony earth. Lean, tart, and refreshing. Some lingering tea and stony minerality. Seems somewhat tight, probably not at its most expressive and complex at this young age, but quite nice nonetheless.

Day 2: More open, with richer, riper fruit (while staying tart and fresh), more developed floral notes, and some peppery spice that meshes well with the black tea. Benefited from the air. Good stuff!
