Sunday Funday (Chicago, IL): The first Australian wine I've had in years. The nose is a ringer for an SQN syrah, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. The palate is quite mineral and lithe, and holds everything together in a very restrained way, which is really not what I was expecting based on the nose alone. A real eye-opening experience for me, but at the end of the day, I'm not sure this is something I'd go and actively seek out.
Very unique and lovely. Extremely fruity, almost syrupy, but not too sweet with flavors of eucalyptus and mint for contrast. Very smooth, with a long lush finish. Wish I had more. The only negative would be the 15.5% alcohol which does show a bit in the background.
