One of my favourites. The wine is developing preserved lemon, lemon meringue pie, white peach, honey, lanolin and toast aromas introduce this deep, bright yellow coloured wine. It has a full-bodied palate showing excellent development and layers of lime and buttered toast through to the long finish. The lemony flavours are intricate, developed and beautifully layered. Amazing length!! Drinking well now.

Meerea Park Benchmarking Masterclass - 19 November 2017 (Meerea Park Cellar Door): This was the oddball in the mix of hunter sems. This smelled a lot more like a Riesling than a Semillon. Fruit forward style, maybe a tad overripe? The colour is a golden yellow at 8 years of age and is a mouth coating bomb of flavour. There is an oily, waxiness about it that reinforced my Riesling thoughts. It feels very Barrossan, that is, you wouldn’t pick it as a cool climate sem or Riesling. An interesting reference point – the varietal comparison was obvious but the regional place stood out clearly.

Beautiful bright straw/green. Lanolin on the nose and touch of honey and herbs. On the palate a bit thin perhaps (well it is only 10.5%) but nonetheless very well balanced. The last vintage I had was 2005 which I remember as being a bit more complex, but there's no doubt this gives great pleasure and has a long life ahead of it.

"2015" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2014-10/16/2014 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 10.5%} This label produced a searingly brilliant wine in 2005; subsequent vintages I’ve tasted haven’t come close to matching it and this also fails to clear the hurdle. It has developing aromas of detergent, sweat, citrus and grass. On the palate it has a smoky note too, despite seeing no oak. It’s light/medium-bodied, but with reticently soft acidity; it’s surprisingly and disappointingly dilute (compared to my expectations). Medium length finish; this is a very nice wine but won’t reward further cellaring that I can see. Drink up, then go find some more of the ’05.
