A 1992 , who sticks let alone who picks a 1992 these days… but this was beautiful. Granted it’s better days behind it, tertiary and lacking weight of fruit but in its soft and fully mature state is also beautiful and delivered and for this who love well aged Bordeaux this will but a big smile on their faces like it did to us.

Needs time to fully open up in the glass. But how generous it becomes with a bouquet of candied black fruits, plum. Perfume of Merlot. Charming. Has mineral touch finish. Graceful wine! Don't rush with it.

This wine was uninspiring and dried out. It had a few hints of what might have been, but, sadly, nothing more. It may well have been this particular bottle. Worth another try at a later date.

WFA Borobudur Auction Tasting (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore): On its last legs - just able to eke some life and pleasure from it. Nose showed great promise - fleshy plums and cherries, some meat, damp woody notes, savoury bits of earth, tobacco and damp leaves. I thought "wow". Palate flattered to deceive. Plenty of flesh in sweet cherries on the attack, but it flopped and thinned out dramatically on the mid-palate, fading into sweet tobacco lingers and into a slightly dry, bittersweet finish. Drink up!

Bordeaux 2005 and 2006 Tasting; 10/22/2009-10/26/2009 (Wine For Asia Singapore Suntec): A beautiful aged claret showing breed and wisdom. Cigar, tobacco, smoked meats dominate the nose but dainty sweet and still very much pristine juicy fruits of plummish character.
