  • This excellent Malbec is in a wonderful place right now: what you might like within a great Malbec it’s all thee: the fruit, the depth, the power, the silkyness, the sweetness. Deep dark color, fruity and sweet nose. Complex on th palate with very ripe dark berry fruit, blackberry, combined with the sweetness of dried fruit, figue, dark chocolate. A sweet and silky finish fills every corner of your mouth and demonstrates the harmony of all the different components of the wine. Still powerful and not at the end of peak drinking window, some years left.

  • This is still drinking well. Mature fruit, but still very much in the prime of it’s life.
Tannins are smoothing out, but they still got some bite.

To be fair, it was very well stored for the last 14 years.

  • Second bottle in recent weeks. Sourced from very high altitude vines, this sees 60% new French oak for 18 months. Super dense, saturated ruby / purple in the glass. The nose is intense and aromatic with plenty of lifted blueberry, dark cherry, blackcurrant, dried cranberry and spice along with crushed stone, eucalyptus and a touch of violet. The palate is beautifully textured and loaded with sweet black fruit, fig, dried spice and dark chocolate. There's a very attractive savoury, meaty edge running throughout that starts to take this to the next level. Hitting its elegant stride now at nearly 13 years of age, the tannins are silky and this has at least another 5-7 years prime drinking ahead of it. Catena with another home run.

  • This is a wine between a good St Emilion and a good Cote Rotie. Red fruit and steak juice coming through, so no surprise this goes well with steak. A bit young so will try to wait till 2018 for the next bottle, what will be difficult as it is already very nice.
