Had a blind tasting and drinking of 3 great bottles from Roblet Monnet for dinner with 8 wine friends: the Volnay St-Francois; 2010 premier cru Volnay Brouillards and 2009 premier cru Volnay Taillepieds. The Saint Francois and the Taillepieds were both very light and complex with bright, but not fruity taste - slight overall preference for the Taillepieds for these two. The Brouillards was much heavier and earthier. The group was split on the Brouillards or the Taillepieds being the favorite. All courses, including cheese for dessert, were taken from food-pinot web sites for pairing. All were ready to drink now.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Earthy aromas with maturing red cherry. Similar flavor profile, coming cross in a very classic, old school style. Best for near-term consumption. Ok.

Eye: Sparkling Ruby, transparent
Nose: Strawberry, forest floor, roses
Palate: Ripe strawberry, cherry cola, subtle underbrush and spice on the back end. Med+ acidity and finish.
Overall this wine was very nice. It was elegant but had a great finesse. I did decant this for a few hours and it is drinking great right now. Enoy!
