In a fantastic place right now and drinking beautifully. PnP, pure dark berry fruit, notes of anise and terrific balance. At its peak and should hold for a few years.

Nose: flourless chocolate cake, cedar, eucalyptus, fresh tobacco, red plum, raspberry; fairly intoxicating nose
Palate: raspberry, red plum, eucalyptus; long+ finish crush gravel, dried herbs, eucalyptus, leather, scorched earth; dry; medium+ body; it's as if I get a high- amount of almost 2 different kinds of tannins -- at first, I get round, plush tannins that create a wonderful mouthfeel, and more towards the finish and upon accumulation I get small, powdery, drying tannins; medium+ acid
Overall: Great earthy/herbal nose and complex palate with a very nice mouthfeel, even though the tannins end up accumulating quite a bit. This will probably be better after some more air. This still probably has some upside potential. Great wine.
EDIT: with some air (bottle open for a couple hours) the tannins get quite plush and the wine is singing.

Last bottle of seven or so. I think it was better last year, but still a great glass of wine. Reidel Syrah glasses. I wouldn’t hold too much longer.

Better than in 2020. Reidel Syrah glasses. Had with Costco thick lamb chops and basalmic reduction.
