  • Prior bottle was just over two years ago and while the wine continues to show well, it was a step down from my prior bottles. Red cherry, floral and earth notes on the nose along with a touch of vanilla and some darker fruit hints behind. Not quite as aromatic or pretty as my prior bottles. Medium bodied with red cherry upfront, moving towards red raspberry and darker red cherry through the middle. Mid-body still has good density and roundness. Backside shows acidity and fine grained tannins for structure along with tart red cherry and red berry for contrast. Still drinking quite well and the steps down I noted were relatively small, but just noted in contrast to how well prior bottles showed. I would drink these over the next 12-18 months as it may well last beyond that time, but it won't improve and should be enjoyed at its current level.

  • Plenty of warm baking spice on the nose and palate. Medium acidity. Shows a little heat on the end. Mid-palate is full of cranberry and hints of raspberry. Drink now.

  • This might be one of the few (GoldenEye and Belle Glos, but nothing like this) Pinots I have come across that needs a good 2-3 hours to open up. Usually my reason to go to Pinot is that it’s typically lighter and usually is a safe choice for an easy Pop and Pour. What threw me was it’s already 7 years old so I figured it was ready but it’s open is tighter than Hillary Clinton’s ankle bracelet. However, once this opened up—and I am writing this 5 hours later, it’s awesome. Raspberry and hints of cherry. Nice finish. Too bad this winery closed as I’d love to try another bottle.

  • Outstanding wine from Latum! So sad that this winery no longer exist. One of the best wines from the producer. Easy to drink as it’s very smooth after a 30 minute decant. Glad to have one more bottle to enjoy at some point.
