  Winery tasting. A wonderful Cabernet Syrah blend with the grapes coming from two different sites in the Livermore. Smokey blackberry, currant, and vanilla wrapped around a soft tannic core. Lots of finese.

  Excellent red blend from Wente; quite the surprise.
  
  Pours dark red in the glass, with a magenta rim; unsurprising given the 55% Syrah.
  
  Strong aromas of black cherry, chocolate, and mulling spice with hints of currant. The nose gives the impression of age that belies the skill of the winemaker in blending these particular grapes.
  
  On the palate, cocoa and blackberry on the attack. Not too aggressive and layered. Fruit gives way to oak, vanilla, and toffee in the finish. Very drinkable, stands alone well.
  
  Delicious and worth every penny. Treat yourself.
