  • Tasted after a 30 minute decant.
Medium ruby in colour with aromas of slightly savoury red fruit & herbaceous forest floor.
On the palate, medium bodied tart red fruit, strawberry/cherry/raspberry, cloves, slightly herbal/earthy, background oak/cedar, medium acidity, low-medium soft tannins, with a long finish to spice/black pepper.
This is lovely wine but there is probably no benefit to further aging.

  • Consistent with previous tasting notes - fruit-driven, silky, with ample spice on the mid-palate and finish. A crowd pleaser and a me pleaser.

  • Delicious dark cherry, spice, and forest floor on the nose and rich palate with a moderate long finish.

  • Colour is medium ruby with aromas of bright red fruit, earth & background oak.
On the palate, red fruit, red/black cherries, a hint of extraction, slightly earthy/musty, well integrated background oak, black pepper, tea leaves, high acidity, and medium soft tannins.
Long finish, fruit forward with backbone acidity transitioning to spicy black pepper.
This is beautiful, elegant wine that balances the California slightly extracted style with the acidity and earthiness of Willamette.
If properly cellared it will last a couple of more years easily.

  • Pop and pour. In the glass, dark, somewhat opaque ruby red. On the nose, classic RRV cherries and nutmeg. On the palate, cherries, pine, earth, and a bit of baking spice, with reserved yet assertive tannins on the midpalate and long finish. It's only the tannins that keep this wine from reaching a very nice equilibrium, and this, coupled with the relatively stronger showing compared to our previous bottle, makes me think there is significant upside here, if I can just keep my hands off of the remaining bottles for another 3-5 years.
