1980s Bordeaux at Riverbend (Oregon): Consistently good wine in fine form. Initial funk dissipated with air; steadily improved over two hours. Some earthiness with good supporting fruit and mostly resolved tannins. Double decanted one hour in advance; better after 90 minutes.
Another excellent bottle of this under valued gem. In fine shape with good ruby color, balanced acidity and tannins, and developed but firm fruit. Decanted one hour prior to beginning to drink; needed the time. Held well over the two hours before we finished it.
Drank my last bottle. The cork was difficult to remove and crumbled. The bottle was thoroughly decanted. The wine was mature but had retained a reasonable amount of fruit. It was fun to drink it and I think it is a gamble to hold this vintage longer.
