Youthful and still quite rough, this simple, basic Barbera has aromas of cherry, red berries, pine, and, oddly enough, yogurt, with strong alcohol vapours (even if it clocks in at just 13%), flavours of raspberry, pomegranate, and pine (generally sharp woodsiness), a lingering aftertaste of pure pomegranate juice, an overall sense of drinking a red fruit gummy, decent acidity, and drying, chalky tannins. Which is to say, it isn't very good, even if it's the sort of unobtrusive Italian red that works well enough, if just that, to wash down food when served in a tumbler.
