Inky red. Clean dark berry nose with baking spice. Energetic and flavourful and refreshing. More character and better balance than I expected. Good for several more years, but not necessary.

The aroma is deep, with dark fruit, a strong oak edge, and a bright spot. The flavor has that same dark fruit, strong tannins, and some sweet berries that come out as this opens up. The finish is not all tannins; the fruit lasts as well. The bright fruit I didn't expect, but it makes sense if this is a blend; apparently this is 80% petite sirah, 20% carignan, zinfandel, and grenache (although I cannot find definitive blend info for this vintage).
Tasted at about 60°F.

With some sweet grass and restrained blue fruit on the nose , this is a nicely weighted petit sirah. The typical blackberry/blueberry flavors show some good structure along with mint and a savory edge.
