  • not blind, out of Magnum (40 made)
Phantastically fresh, dense, hints of honey and walnut. For a 2006 surprisingly light, no botrytis notes. At least a decade ahead from this size. 98

  • Meget god og ferdig moden champagne med nøttete/honning aktig eplefrukt over masse autolyse og mineraler. Rik i munn. 40 chardonnay, 30 pinot, 30 meunier.

  • Powerfully expressive after a little air - brassy fruit, minerals, and subtle autolytic notes. Lots of structure and drive, but enough body so as not to be austere. Another reminder of why Brochet is the man.

  • Honey, almond, and baked bread on the nose. This is a very savory, dry, intense Champagne, with a kind of salty-apple-oxidative finish. I wouldn't drink this without food (which I am making the mistake of right now). I like it, but I think I prefer his other wines better. Bottle says L016 which I assume is the disgorgement year.

  • A blend of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Pinot Noir (30%). Aged for 11 months in oak barrels. Total production 2785 bottles.

Intense lemon yellow color. Beautifully complex, toasty and somewhat sweet-toned nose with nuanced aromas of chopped almonds, some savory oak tones, a little bit of ripe citrus fruits, light yeasty bread tones and a hint of smoke. The wine is dry, relatively full-bodied and complex on the palate with spicy wood tones, ripe red apples, some oxidative nutty tones, a little bit of chalky bitterness, light brioche notes and a sweeter hint of dried yellow fruits. The overall impression is very balanced with the moderately high acidity and very soft and creamy mousse. The finish is long and fresh with bright and nuanced flavors of yeasty French bread, oxidative nuttiness, a little bit of ripe citrus fruits, light chalky mineral tones, a hint of baked apple and a touch of savory wood spice.

A beautiful, harmonious and very balanced Vintage Champagne with some obvious yet still not overpowering oak influence and good sense of structure. For its size the acidity could be a little bit higher, but the wine performs very nicely on its own. Overall the wine feels quite vinous with some noticeable sense of weight, thanks to its woody undertones and impressive complexity. Delicious stuff, highly recommended for people who don't mind if their bubblies show some wood influence and oxidative complexity.
