Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 87.3 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 3 notes)

Tasted by Nanda on 1/30/2009 & rated 88 points: Casual Friday - Older Cal Cabs and '01 Aussie: Ruby and youthful appearance. Nose has candied currants with a hint of tobacco. Palate has a youthful note with good fruit and some richness. Some chewy tannins remain as well. But the fruit is fairly simple with less complexity than some of the earlier wines. (322 views)
Tasted by no leashes on 5/24/2008 & rated 87 points: Appears to be past its prime, though still enjoyable. Soft cherry and cassis flavors, soft tannins. Worked nicely with grilled burgers. (410 views)
Tasted by ritav on 1/19/2008 & rated 87 points: Lovely medium black cherry colored, light tannins, nicely blended and soft edges - drinking nicely now. Went well with standing rib. We followed this with an '83 Talbot and although the Talbot went better with the beef, I thought that the Silverado was lovely. Drink now, I'd say there's only a good year left. (454 views)

California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
